The Art of Ceramics
It’s a brief story about ceramics life.
Every story has a preface, so. Pottery is older than you, your grandmother and all your relatives together. On the walls of the Egyptian tombs there are paintings with ceramic vases from Crete. During excavations of the island, archeologists discovered a factory where cups, plates, vases were made. It took several centuries, but ceramics remain one of the basic materials. People make of ceramic almost everything from a large panel in size of a giraffe to a tiny coaster.
1 - TO DRAW. On a rough paper surface, a sketch. One line. Two. Three, and the contours make up in a cup or lamp. We can spend eternity talking about the last. Firstly we counted all the lamps that we produce, but after 100 stopped. There are ceramic lamps in the form of pears and hives, old bells and triangular tea bags. There is the 'Alient' series with odd forms, and hundreds of lamps live in our sketchbooks.
Once we made ceramics only for our people. Now our lamps, tableware and decor live in Ukraine, Canada, UK, Germany, India. We're planning to expand the geography, because it's cool to share things that you love with others. In autumn we opened our own online store with worldide shipping. No matter where you are. Even in Alaska.
2 - TO SCULPT
To knead clay fantasizing what it will be this time. A tile-fish floating on the walls of a living room? Resembling a pancake a flat saucer on which crumbs of cookies are always scattered? Or a vase — slender and tall for slender and tall gladiolus, iris, chrysanthemum?
4 - TO PAINT
Choose and give ceramics a color. The color of sea, hay, grass. The color of yellow midday sun or reddish one which it has before sunset.
And finally —ADMIRE
Ceramics is an art appearing in the hands of one man and living in the hands of other.
