We collected fashion trends that were talked about in 2017.
And they will talk in 2018
NEW MATERIALS
Designers experimented as they could create chairs from mushrooms, lamps from dried fish and swimwear from garbage (the last is the collaboration of Adidas and Parley for the Oceans).
Recycling and conscious consumption didn’t lose ground. We won Red Dot Design Awards 2017 for the tiles made of old materials that are always left after construction.
FOOD AS ART
Food designers and food stylists are no longer beings from another planet. Instagram feed is full of beautiful tables with beautiful plates, where even the pasta is so beautifully laid out that resembles a piece of art.
A bold combination of food and art was made by Lucy-Ruth Hathaway and Kyle Bean. They recreated the work of famous artists from the products that we eat for breakfast. The shark of Damien Hirst turned into an avocado, whilst the famous dots of Yayoi Kusama into toasts with ketchup.
JAPAN
DESIGNER FURNITURE AND DECOR
A ‘trend’, our design workshop has had for 15 years.
We make exclusive limited collections of chairs, lamps, and tiles. We can say: these lamps are only 2-3 in the world. All the things are handmade, so colours and patterns even of the same models differ. Our clients get 100% genuine and one-of-a-kind products.
TO CREATE ONE CHAIR AND ENDLESSLY MANUFACTURE IT IS LIKE TO PUT ON ONE SONG AND DANCING TO IT UNTIL THE END OF YOUR DAYS.
WHY NOT
Brands run the i-don’t-know-bold-or-absurd marathon? Why not — IKEA created furniture for cats and dogs. Why not — Seletti and Studio Job designed a burger chair and sofas shaped like a hot dog. Why not — Karl Lagerfeld turned Claridge’s Christmas Tree into an installation. It’s naturally upside down. And yes, we also don’t know how to look at it.
